Burks Pump part 09926 Mechanical seal

The Burks part # 09926 is a Mechanical seal, 1-1/4 Inch, Carbon/Ceramic/Viton for Burks GA6 Series and GA7 Series Centrifugal Pumps. MECHANICAL SEAL REPLACEMENT
The mechanical shaft seal should be replaced if water is noticed around the motor shaft. Remove case and impeller and, using two screw drivers to pry on each side, remove seal stationary seat. Clean seat area of frame, install new stationary seat with ceramic surface facing out toward impeller and slide new rotating element over shaft sleeve with hard carbon surface against ceramic seat. Be sure to keep all surfaces clean. Lubricating seal parts with water will help the installation of the seal. Reinstall impeller and pump case. The seat must be seated securely in the seat ring with the lapped face out. The unlapped face is marked and correctly assembled when shipped. Oil the seat ring with light oil and seat it firmly and squarely. If this cannot be done with the fingers, use a sleeve, inserting the cardboard shipping disc between the sleeve and the lapped face to prevent scratching sealing face. Make sure at all times, and particularly before final assembly, that both sealing faces are absolutely clean. Sealing faces should be oiled with clean, light oil.
