Product Information :

The March 821-CI-T-230V is a Centrifugal Magnetic Drive Hydronic Pump and Motor unit, with Cast Iron front housing, Stainless Steel rear housing, Stainless Steel shaft, Ryton impeller, Ceramic thrust washer, Carbon bushing, Nitrile/Fibre Gasket, Flanged Ports, and is coupled to a 1/20 Horsepower, 1600 RPM, 230 Volt AC, Single Phase, Air Cooled Motor. This pump is a centrifugal magnetic drive pump, which eliminates the need for a shaft seal. This seal-less centrifugal magnetic drive pump ideal for applications such as hot water systems. It is capable of generating a maximum flow of 22 gallons per minute at 2.5 feet, and its maximum head is 8.5 Feet (3.6PSI). The standard wet end (the materials that come into contact with the solution) is composed of Cast Iron, Stainless Steel, Ryton, Ceramic, Carbon, and Nitrile/Fibre. The inlet connection is a flange, and the outlet is a flange. The maximum internal pressure the pump can tolerate is 150PSI, and the maximum liquid temperature is 250 Fahrenheit or 121 Celsius. This pump is not self-priming, and lacks a suction lift, and requires a flooded suction - the liquid must flow naturally to the pump. It cannot be run dry because the impeller requires the liquid being pumped for lubrication. Do not operate the pump until liquid is inside of the pump and ever run the pump dry. The motor on this pump is U.L. listed and rated for continuous duty and has a junction box for electrical connection. Rated performance capacity is up to 22 GPM open flow, and up to 8.5 feet total dynamic head. At the maximum head of 8.5 feet, the flow will be lower than the rated capacity of 22 GPM. The maximum temperature for this pump is 250 degrees F.

Applications

There are many applications that the March 821CIT230V are used in. Typical applications for this pump include hot water and hot oil systems. This pump was built to handle liquid transfer in heating and cooling operations. The 821CI has pumped Cutting Oils, Ethylene Glycol, Hot Water and Salt Water. Liquids containing ferrous metal fines should not be pumped. This pump may have to be modified to pump liquids or chemicals with specific gravities, viscosities, or elevated temperatures different then ambient water. A magnetic drive pump is sealless, preventing any leakage that is normally associated with a conventional seal pump. Not only does the absence of a seal prevent the leakage of potentially dangerous and expensive liquids, it reduces maintenance time spent on the pump. In any magnetic drive pump, there are only two moving parts, the drive magnet and the impeller. With only two moving parts, there is little to break in the pump, and this pump is serviceable with a screwdriver. The simpler the pump, the less chance there is for failure. A magnetic drive pump is your answer to for a long lasting, dependable, reliable pump. Install the pump as near to the suction source and as low as possible with a flooded suction. The Pump should be mounted horizontally on a foundation secured by anchor bolts on a flat, stable surface or supports which are suitable to prevent movement of the pump and motor when in operation. It is advisable to mount the motor on a dampening/insulation surface to reduce noise and vibration caused by the moving components while operation. Always ensure that the outlet port is higher than the inlet port. This allows a path for the air to escape through. If the outlet is not higher than air can build up and may cause problems within the system. The pump should never be mounted vertically with the pump head at the lowest point. This will create an air pocket within the pump chamber and may cause problems.

The pumps should be installed with the pump housing arrow pointing in the direction of flow within the system. If the arrow indicating flow is not in the direction required, remove the socket head housing screws holding the housing to the motor bracket and rotate the housing assembly as required. Replace the screws and tighten. The pump is composed of a wet end assembly, which can be separated by unscrewing the socket head housing screws. The pump will then separate into 2 parts. The liquid will be contained within the wet end assembly unless the flat head connecting screws on the rear housing are loosened. The motor can be removed from the wet end assembly without draining the liquid from the system. To do so remove four socket head housing screws and slide the motor assembly away. If parts inside the wet end assembly must be removed, isolate the pump or drain the system. When the system is drained and cool, remove the four flat head connecting screws from the rear of the housing. The rear housing can now be removed. Remaining pump parts can be removed. Replace any worn or damaged parts. Replace the gasket anytime the rear housing is removed.
