The Groco ASD-2500-S is a Bronze ASD Series High Capacity 2-1/2 inch Raw Water Strainer with Stainless Steel Basket, Stainless Steel Enclosure, and 2-1/2 Inch by 2-1/2 Inch Ports. The MODELMODEL raw water strainer is the ideal filtration solution for heavy-duty high flow cooling water intakes in commercial, military and USCG inspected vessels and can be used for any marine engine, air conditioning unit, or genset. This strainer is to be installed on the suction side of engines and pumps. The superior design makes them long lasting and easy to service while the variety of sizes means there is a fit for every application. In production for more than 50 years ASA series strainers are designed with a 316 stainless steel enclosure in place of a sight glass, C84400 bronze head castings, and is UL Listed 255D.

Applications

Install SA series strainers vertically oriented above the outside waterline if possible. Locate the strainer between the inlet seacock and the engine raw water pump in a location that will allow routine maintenance. Leave at least 16 inches above the top of the strainer for removal of the filter basket for cleaning. As with any plumbing system, the components will function with greater efficiency when restrictions are kept to a minimum. When planning the plumbing for SA Series Strainers assure that 90degree bends are utilized only when necessary and that hoses and fittings have as large and ID as possible. Use Groco full flow fittings if you can. Double clamp all hose connections and use TFE thread tape on threaded connections. Install SA series strainers in a location that allows for filter basket service. Use brackets on the valve body and on the end caps to mount to a sturdy bulkhead or stringer. Observe Inlet and Outlet markings on the strainer head. Ports are threaded for NPT connections. Unscrew the center wingnut, and remove and clean the filter basket at least weekly, then inspect the cover oring and plastic wingnut washer at this time. Replace the cover and screw down the center wingnut securely.
